The Application Process

The online application form is the first part of the selection process, and will be used to shortlist for the next stage.

Please ensure that you complete all sections of the application form fully and emphasise those areas where you believe you meet the essential requirements of the role, relating specifically to the job description and person specification.

You may also wish to visit the Trust and/or relevant school website to access useful documents which may help your application.

Acknowledgement of your online application will be sent to you automatically by email once you have submitted your completed form. 

All updates of the progress of your application will be via email; therefore, we recommend that you keep a regular check on your emails.

Closing times, unless otherwise specified within the advert, are at midnight on the closing date. Any applications received after the closing date will not be considered.

Next steps

Shortlisting is carried out by the recruiting manager based on an assessment of the information you have provided on your application form against the essential criteria defined on the person specification. Only those candidates who most fully meet the essential criteria for the job will be shortlisted. Where we have vacancies with a high volume of applications, we reserve the right to utilise desirable criteria in addition to the essential for shortlisting purposes.

Candidates who are successful at shortlisting stage will be invited to an interview.

In addition to an interview, you may be asked to undertake an assessment during your selection process. You will be notified beforehand if it will involve an assessment. It may include:

  • Delivering a lesson
  • Delivering a presentation
  • A practical exercise, e.g. in-tray exercises, report writing.
  • Literacy, numeracy or ICT tests

Offers of appointment are conditional upon receipt of, satisfactory Enhanced DBS check (disclosure barring service), two satisfactory references, verification of medical fitness for employment, verification of identity and qualifications, verification of professional status and qualifications, e.g. QTS Status, NPQH (where required), verification of the right to work in the UK, and where the successful candidate has worked or been resident overseas in the previous five years, such checks and confirmations as may be required in accordance with statutory guidance.
