Tuesday, 10th February 2026

As part of National Apprenticeship Week (9–15 February 2026), we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Faatemah Matadar, an Apprentice IT Technician at Rivington & Blackrod High School.

Faatemah is currently completing an ITIL Level 3 apprenticeship, working within the Trust’s IT team to support staff and students and help keep the school’s IT systems running smoothly. Through her apprenticeship, she has gained hands on experience across a wide range of IT tasks, developing both her technical knowledge and confidence in a school environment.

Tell us a bit about your role and your apprenticeship

I’m currently completing an ITIL Level 3 apprenticeship and work as an IT Support Technician Apprentice at Rivington & Blackrod High School. I support staff and students with daily IT needs and help keep the school’s IT systems running smoothly. I work closely with my manager and the wider IT team on a range of tasks, including system migration work, which has strengthened my technical skills and understanding of IT services in a school environment.

How would you describe your apprenticeship experience in one sentence?

It’s been a valuable and rewarding experience that has helped me build confidence and develop practical IT skills.

What’s one accomplishment during your apprenticeship that you’re particularly proud of?

I’m most proud of how much my confidence and independence have grown, particularly in being able to support staff and students more effectively.

What three words would you use to describe your role?

Problem-solving, proactive and collaborative.

Faatemah has grown in confidence, technical ability and independence throughout her apprenticeship and has become a reliable and valued member of the team. We’re proud to celebrate her achievements during National Apprenticeship Week.”

Faatemah’s journey highlights the value of apprenticeships across our Trust, supporting individual career development while strengthening our teams and the services we provide for our school communities.
