Year 11 Student Wins Fifth Place at Crufts 2024
Tuesday, 12th March 2024
A Year 11 student at Harper Green School showcased his talent and passion for dog handling at Crufts 2024 on Thursday, 7th, March 2024.
Sam's family has been breeding and showing bulldogs for over 20 years. Now that he's old enough to participate, he recently stepped into the spotlight, handling the family's dogs in the show ring.
At this year's prestigious Crufts competition, Sam entered the ring with two of his own dogs: a 10-month-old brindle boy and a 2½-year-old red and white boy bred at home. Though the puppy didn't secure a place, the 2½-year-old impressed judges and secured an impressive fifth place, earning the title Very Highly Commended (VHC).
Beyond his own dogs, Sam also handled three other dogs belonging to a lady who could no longer manage them due to a recent stroke. Under Sam's guidance, each dog achieved commendable placements, with one securing 4th place and the others earning 5th place.
In addition to his fantastic achievements at Crufts, Sam is actively involved in the Kennel Club Online Academy. Having already completed his stewarding course, he is currently undertaking a judging course, which is on hold until after his GCSEs.
Well done, Sam, for your outstanding performance at Crufts 2024.
