Tuesday, 4th November 2025

In October 2025, Rivington & Blackrod High School staged its annual school production, presenting a lively performance of Little Shop of Horrors from Monday 20th to Thursday 23rd October.

Following auditions held in the spring term, students dedicated months to rehearsals, developing their skills in acting, singing, dancing, puppetry and live music. Their hard work and enthusiasm were evident throughout each performance, showcasing the talent and commitment within the school’s performing arts community.

The production transported audiences to the gritty streets of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, following the story of Seymour, a flower shop assistant whose discovery of a mysterious plant with a dangerous appetite leads to a series of comical and unexpected events. Featuring a rock ’n’ roll soundtrack, sharp humour and impressive staging, the show offered an engaging and entertaining experience for all.

The performance received high praise from the National School Theatre Awards (NSTA), who described it as:

“A brilliant and thoroughly enjoyable school production... a monstrous success all round!”

The NSTA commended the strong performances, choreography and technical creativity, highlighting the professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by students and staff throughout the production process.

Little Shop of Horrors 2025 was a wonderful celebration of creativity, collaboration and talent, a production everyone involved can be proud of. Well done to all involved!
