RBHS Summer School 2025 Success

Friday, 22nd August 2025

In August 2025, Rivington & Blackrod High School hosted its annual Summer School, providing a fantastic introduction for students joining Year 7 in September. Across four activity-packed days, students took part in a range of experiences designed to build confidence, teamwork and a sense of belonging as they prepared to begin their RBHS journey.

On the first day, students explored the school’s values through a series of engaging challenges, including Dragon’s Den-style pitches and team-building activities. They also put their creativity and engineering skills to the test by designing and building catapults, competing to see whose design could launch the furthest, with some impressive results reaching over four metres.

Day two focused on sport and collaboration, with students taking part in Commando Joe challenges and enjoying games such as foot-rounders and zone ball. The enthusiasm and teamwork displayed throughout the day were excellent and it was clear that some of the new students already have the makings of future sports stars.

The adventure continued on day three with outdoor education sessions at the Anderton Centre, where students took on activities including archery, tree climbing, axe throwing and climbing walls. Back at school, others enjoyed a lively Circus Skills workshop, which was full of laughter and creativity.

The week concluded with a final day featuring a Science Boffin show and workshops, followed by The Rivington Mystery, a fun, problem-solving challenge where students worked together to discover who stole the House Cup.

The Summer School was a great success, full of smiles, new friendships and shared achievements. Rivington & Blackrod High School looks forward to welcoming these new students back in September and seeing all that they go on to achieve in the years ahead.
