Lostock Primary School Wins Bolton Schools ICT E-Safety Competition 2026

Wednesday, 1st April 2026

Lostock Primary School has been named the overall winner of the Bolton Schools ICT (SICT) E-Safety Competition 2026.

Bolton Schools ICT holds an annual competition, linked to Safer Internet Day, to promote online safety and digital citizenship among pupils across Bolton. This year’s theme focused on exploring the safe and responsible use of AI, encouraging pupils to think about smart tech and making safe choices online.

Lostock entered all three categories, submitting entries in Art, Video and Computer Science. As part of the competition, the school’s E-Safety Champions were also invited to take part in judging alongside staff and pupils from other schools and SICT (they were not allowed to vote for their own school). They really enjoyed the experience, confidently sharing their thoughts and discussing the entries. Their oracy skills were excellent throughout and it was a great opportunity for them to take on responsibility and support the promotion of safe and positive online behaviour.

We are delighted to share that Lostock’s entry in the Computer Science category, created by Ollie and Halle from Year 5, was chosen as the winner. Using Scratch, they created an AI quiz, demonstrating both strong coding skills and a clear understanding of how to use technology safely and responsibly.

Not only did they win the Computer Science category, but Lostock Primary School was also selected as the overall winner of the entire competition. As part of the prize, pupils will receive a computer science workshop delivered by Bolton Schools ICT.

This is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the creativity, hard work and excellent computing skills shown by pupils. Staff at SICT also commented on the high standard of coding and we are incredibly proud of everyone involved.
