KS3 Students Secure Second Place at Bolton Panathlon Xtend Challenge
Thursday, 3rd October 2024
A group of Key Stage 3 students at Harper Green School took part in the Bolton Panathlon Xtend Challenge at the Bolton Arena on Wednesday, 2nd October 2024. Competing against seven other mainstream and specialist schools and colleges from the Bolton Borough, the group achieved an impressive second place overall.
The competition tested their physical abilities and applied tactical strategies in various competitive activities, including precision bean bag throws, new age kurling, boccia blast, flight path, skittles, slam dunk and the Messi football skills challenge. Our students really enjoyed the day, participating in sporting challenges and competing against other students across Bolton.
Mr Wakefield, Head of PE at Harper Green, commented, “Our students represented the school exceptionally well, embodying the 'We Are Harper' values. They showed respect to each other and their opponents with constant encouragement throughout the competition. They interacted with young sports leaders in a really positive way, listening carefully to instructions and showing good manners at every opportunity.
A standout moment for me was when the winners were announced. Our students cheered just as enthusiastically for the winners as for themselves, exchanging high fives and words of congratulations in abundance.”
This competition is just the first of many events lined up throughout the school calendar, including ten-pin bowling, boccia, new age kurling and more.
Well done, everyone!
