Tuesday, 6th May 2024
Rivington and Blackrod High School hosted the annual Horwich and Blackrod cluster primary schools' football finals competition last week. From the first whistle to the final moments, the players showed their determination and teamwork with many cheers and enthusiastic support in a fantastic finals event.
Eight primary schools took part in the annual competition where Horwich cluster primary pupils played a series of fixtures throughout the year culminating in the Plate and Cup Finals, both hosted at Rivington and Blackrod high School. Among the schools were Beacon Primary School, Blackrod Church Primary School, Blackrod Primary School, Claypool Primary School, Chorley New Road, Horwich Parish CE Primary School, St Mary's CE Primary School, and St Catherine's CE Primary School.
Head of PE, Miss L Jordan, commented, "We are always thrilled to host the football finals here at RBHS. The students were all dressed the part in their brand new Premier League kits, and they played like professionals too!
Our Year 10 young leaders made us proud with their refereeing, organising and running of the event, and we can't wait to welcome the primary pupils back again this term for the netball, cross country, rounders and sports day events. Lots to look forward to!".
Well done to everyone who contributed to making the event a success!
