Harper Green School given the green light for £1.9 million investment

Students at Harper Green School are set to benefit from a brand new state-of-the-art dance and drama studio and three ultra-modern classrooms.

Planning permission for a brand new two-storey building at Harper Green School was given the go-ahead by Bolton Council today.

The impressive £1.9 million investment, partly funded through the Capital Investment Fund, comprises the demolition of three single-storey temporary blocks and their replacement with a brand new building featuring a first-class dance and drama studio and three ultra-modern classrooms. The plans also include a roof replacement project involving the replacement of six flat roofs.

Head of School, Ms S Heppenstall, commented “We are delighted that planning permission has been granted today and we’ve been given the green light for this exciting project. The new two-story building will house a flagship dance and drama studio and three additional teaching classrooms. The area around the new build will be landscaped to enhance the school site aesthetically.

“The new development will allow us to continue our journey as we transform our facilities and enhance the learning experiences in Dance, Drama and Religious Studies. It will also enable additional enrichment opportunities to be offered both in and out of the school day.

“To be moving forward with the delivery of the new facilities is exciting for Harper Green School and our community, and we can’t wait to see the construction work start at the end of the month. The new development symbolises our commitment to providing the highest quality of education and a warm, safe and rich environment that creates a community of happy, successful and well-rounded individuals.”

Construction is expected to start on site in the coming weeks and the building is anticipated to be fully operational by Autumn 2022.
