Harper Green School DofE Students Contribute 741 Hours of Volunteering to Local Community

Students at Harper Green School are being recognised for the positive impact they have made through The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (DofE), contributing an impressive 741 hours of volunteering within their local community this year.
Through the Volunteering section of the award, students have supported a wide range of organisations, initiatives and community projects while developing valuable skills and experiences. Activities have included coaching younger children in sports and dance, supporting local events, assisting in charity shops, helping libraries and places of worship, caring for animals and taking part in environmental projects such as litter picking and gardening.
Students have also supported food banks, youth groups and elderly residents, demonstrating a strong commitment to service and community engagement. Collectively, their efforts generated an estimated social value of £5,593.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award encourages young people to develop confidence, resilience, leadership and teamwork through volunteering, physical activity and skills development. The experiences gained help prepare participants for future education, employment and life beyond school, while making a meaningful difference to others.
