Rivington & Blackrod Students Gain First-Hand Courtroom Experience at Bolton Coroners Court

Wednesday, 3rd December 2025

Students from Rivington & Blackrod High School and Sixth Form recently took part in a mock trial during a visit to Bolton Coroners Court, giving them a valuable insight into how the legal system works in practice.

The experience allowed students to step into a real courtroom setting and see first-hand the roles of different legal professionals. From observing proceedings to understanding how decisions are made, the visit brought learning to life in a way that can’t be replicated in the classroom.

Students engaged thoughtfully throughout, asking questions and showing a genuine interest in the process. For many, it offered a new perspective on potential career pathways within the legal profession.

Opportunities like this form an important part of the wider enrichment offer at Rivington & Blackrod, helping students to build confidence, broaden their aspirations and develop a deeper understanding of the world beyond school.
